Spring Ordeal

An annual event, held in Spring, put on by Santee Chapter. The induction ceremony, called the Ordeal, is the first step toward full membership in the Order. The entire experience is designed to teach significant values. All candidates for membership must complete the Ordeal within one year of their election or nomination.
To complete your induction into the Order of the Arrow, prospective new members attend the Ordeal Weekend. Typically held at the Schoepe Lost Valley Scout Camp in Spring, candidates arrive on Friday evening. From that point, it will be a time spent in service to the camp, working in silence and on scant rations. A time free of distraction to contemplate the value of service to others, it concludes with an induction ceremony and a feast of fellowship and food with other Arrowmen. For more information about the Ordeal, please visit this page.

Tim Killian Memorial Chili Cook-off

An annual event put on by Santee Chapter to honor one of it’s fallen brethren. Usually held in late summer a Chili Cook-off is held where teams compete against one another to earn the crown of “best chili.” This is also used as a fundraiser for the Tim Killian Memorial Scholarship which is awarded annually by Santee Chapter to one or more deserving members of the Santee Ceremonies Team who is entering college.
