So you want to be Treasurer?


Treasurer is an elected position

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • General duties of all Officers
  • Makes contact with all previous year “Paid” members to remind and collect current year Dues
  • Collect money and issue receipts for events & annual dues
  • Work with secretary to maintain membership records
  • Create event rosters & submit to event organizers
  • Ensure that members get membership cards
  • Collect and maintain medical and permission slips for all events
  • Help prepare and report on annual and event budgets (due by February’s Lodge Executive Committee (LEC) Meeting)
  • Makes deposits of funds received to the Council Service Center as described in the Lodge Plan Book.
  • Work with council to ensure proper accounting
  • Run the trading posts at Camp-O-Ree and Webelos Woods/Camporall
  • Sell Santee items at meetings and other chapter events
  • Maintain an inventory & prices list for all goods sold, notifying board when items need to be re-ordered
  • Assist your adviser in paying bills (if under 18)

Time Commitment (all are required)

  • Meeting Planning & Preparation – 2 hours each month
  • Event organization & preparation – 3 to 4 hours per event (banquet, dinner, ordeal, pow-wow, etc.)
  • Camp-o-Ree – 1 weekend in Spring

Personal skills and talents

  • Leadership (you don’t really want to work all those hours in the trading post yourself, do you?)
  • Organized
  • Detail oriented
  • Good with math
  • Ability to sell
  • Able to store and transport on a regular basis the chapter inventory (6 – 8 crates of stuff)
