What is Conclave?

Conclave is a little like the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC), a little like Pow Wow, and a little like Camporee. While at Conclave you have the opportunity to take classes about the Order of the Arrow from a multitude of topics such as: General Studies, Indian Affairs, Leadership and Program, Outdoor Adventurer/Camp Promotions, and New Arrowmen. Each time you attend you are able to receive a degree from Arrowmen University and with each attendance you advance. You start with an Associate Degree then can get a Bachelors, and even a Doctorate degree. The classes available are on the back of this booklet. You also can participate in some competitive games as a lodge just like NOAC where we will compete against the other three (3) lodges in the W 4S Section. Once again another way to show Wiatava is #1. If games aren’t your forte by all means still come. We have competitions for dances and ceremonies, and if you don’ t know how to dance, come to learn. To finish off the Conclave, we all get to enjoy an Evening Show and even show some spirit.

FAQ

What do I need to do to sign up?

To sign up for Conclave please register online. The money due for Conclave will be collect by your Chapter. Please also have a copy of the BSA Medical Form A & B for the event. The medical forms can be e-mailed in advance to Jeff Bozanic at jbozanic

What if I don’t have a ride?

Please contact your Chapter Chief and/or Advisor. Lf they are unable to help you please call Mr. Bozanic at 714-747-2727 or myself, Kyle Nguyen, at 714-271-6268 and transportation will be discussed.

What if I don’t get out of school till late Friday?

By all means come right after, or even show up Saturday Morning!

What if I just joined the Order of the Arrow?

If you just joined then why not start your OA life with a bang? This is one of the biggest events that we attend as a lodge and it’s a great way to meet new friends.

Does this count toward the Arrowman Service Award?

Yes it does. This is actually the last chance anyone for anyone to get this patch. Because this year is our 100th Anniversary, National started this patch and the great thing about it, it’s a patch that you can wear ON your sash.

My fellow Arrowmen,

Wow is all I can say for Santee! As a chapter we had a very busy, yet rewarding summer. The two main events that stood out for us this summer were NOAC and Pow Wow. As I am sure you know Santee had the one of the biggest contingents for Wiatava Lodge; so we were pretty well represented. Every boy I have talked to said they had a blast and I believe them! NOAC is definitely something every OA member should have on their bucket list. I encourage those who did not attend to go next opportunity they get.

Next, Santee dominate at Pow Wow. Every boy was involved in sports, and the ties of brotherhood where strengthen that weekend. I could not attend this event, but Santee was left in the more than capable hands of our EVC Kevin. Kevin not only scored a lodge position as Indian affairs (Congrats Kevin!) but he also lead Santee in spirit, which in turn, lead to us taking home the wooden spirit cog! Way to go Santee!

The time for the 2015 board is swiftly coming to end for this Thursday (Tomorrow!), we elect a new chief to build off the foundation that has been laid down for our chapter. As you vote, I challenge you to picture your own vision on Santee a year from now. From the candidates running, who do you think will achieve that vision.

Taylor Ramirez

We are only a few days away from Pow Wow!

If you haven’t already sent in your info, please do ASAP!

Here are a few reminders:
· You need to have a current BSA Annual Health and Medical Record (Parts A and B) completed within the last 12 months. Check with your Chapter Adviser if they have a current one on file. If not, please complete the form and give it to your Chapter Adviser http://www.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_ABC.pdf
· Bring your signed activity consent waivers. Scouts under 18 years old can only shoot if the shooting sports section is signed by your parents.
· An electronic version of the participant’s book is attached for your review. There are a lot of activities happening so be familiar with the schedule so you don’t miss something.
· Don’t forget your swim suit if you will be participating in the swimming event on Saturday morning.
· The current weather forecast is sunny with a high of 82 and a low of 62. As always when going to Lost Valley, bring a water container and rain gear (in case the forecast is wrong.)
· The Lost Valley cabins are reserved for Pow Wow staff and the Lodge Board. Participants will be sleeping in their assigned campsites.
· Vehicles must be parked in the Grace Camp parking lot or the Schoepe Scout Reservation at the Main Parking Lot near the entrance to camp

Looking forward to seeing you on Friday!
